- Supporting your joints, such as the knees and elbows

- Preventing deep vein thrombosis
Whether you need a pressure garment to enhance recovery from sports injuries, support IVF transfers or improve circulation, Hann’s Pharmacy can help you find the right fit.
If you need a compression sock fitting in Fairfax, the staff at Hann’s are trained in taking proper compression measurements and offer two forms to fit your needs — regular or custom.
Regular Fitting
Regular fittings are our standard option and last around 20 minutes. We will take your measurements and find a garment in stock that provides the right compression level. You can then take your garments home and begin wearing them immediately.
Custom Fitting
We also offer custom fittings for compression garments. These appointments last up to an hour as we take more precise measurements than a regular fitting. We will then order a garment based on your exact measurements to be custom-made specifically for you. These compression garments can take around two weeks for production and shipping to our store.

How Tight Should a Compression Garment Fit?
Compression garments should fit snugly. While they must be tight enough to provide support, you should be able to sit, stand and walk comfortably. A garment that is too tight can hinder circulation and affect healing. If the compression garment rolls down or you notice sensations of numbness, tingling or nagging discomfort, the fit is too tight.
How Long Do Compression Garments Last?
Compression garments usually last between three and six months. Over time, they become less stretchy. With frequent wear and washing, the fabric loses elasticity and ultimately provides less support. The overall quality of the garment will impact its longevity, so it’s important to replace compression garments when the fit starts to loosen.
Is It Safe to Wear Compression Garments Overnight?
While many types of compression garments should not be worn overnight, nighttime compression wear is beneficial in certain situations. Speak to your health care provider to determine how long you should wear your compression garments for optimal support.
How Often Should You Wash Compression Garments?
It’s important to wash your compression wear every two to three days. Always check the manufacturer’s recommended wash and care instructions. If the product is machine-safe, place the compression garment inside a mesh bag before putting it in a washing machine. The mesh bag will provide extra protection and ensure the garment doesn’t stretch out of shape during the machine’s spin cycle.
