Fertility treatment often includes injections throughout the process. Leuprolide acetate is an injectable fertility medication sometimes prescribed during in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles. The medication can regulate the body’s production of the natural hormones FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone).

As a full-service pharmacy, Hann’s Fertility Pharmacy can provide leuprolide medication and advice as part of your fertility journey.

What Is Leuprolide Used For?

Leuprolide (Lupron) is an injection used to reduce the amount of hormones that stimulate ovulation. The medication can help prevent premature ovulation and control your ovulatory cycle. This gives your doctor a predictable access window to your eggs during IVF. Your doctor may recommend leuprolide treatments as part of your ovarian stimulation regimen.

Important Safety Information for Leuprolide

If your doctor recommends leuprolide, you must consult with your health care team and use this medication only as prescribed. Do not use leuprolide until you have received instructions from your health care provider.

Storage Information

Leuprolide should be refrigerated. Avoid storing the vial in the door or the back of your refrigerator.

Before Taking Leuprolide

Before using leuprolide, check that the solution is not discolored. Take the vial out of the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes before using it so the medication comes to room temperature. This ensures less stinging or burning.

Ask me anything!” Colette loves counseling patients on the benefits of homeopathic products and the importance of professionally fitted compression. She looks forward to continuing to support patients throughout their fertility journey and making sure each patient leaves Hann’s Pharmacy feeling positive, valued, and special. Outside of work, Colette loves going on cruises and hunting around for the treats she misses from the UK.
